Dressing Bench Wheels

All bench wheels must be dressed when the build-up of workpiece material on the face of the grinding wheel, namely loading, occurs. This exposes fresh abrasives and gets rid of old material clogging the wheel. Allowing the wheel's face to load can cause excessive heat build-up resulting in damage to the work-piece, wheel breakage, or both.

Bench Grinders

Bench Grinders are a mainstay in any shop.

A bench grinder or pedestal grinder is a machine used to drive an abrasive wheel (or wheels). Depending on the grade of the grinding wheel it may be used for sharpening cutting tools such as lathe tools or drill bits. Alternatively it may be used to roughly shape metal prior to welding or fitting. Bench Grinders may also be used for buffing applications.
